Carte d’Europe : la Suisse cerclée et allumée, à côté des pays déjà desservis.

Now shipping to Switzerland — customs and VAT on us

A few days ago, when we opened the Netherlands, we wrote that beyond the European Union lay a different job altogether — customs, declarations, paperwork. We have learned that job: Nevermint now ships to Switzerland.

Nothing to pay on delivery

It is the worry with any order from outside the EU, and a fair one: the parcel arrives and the carrier asks for import VAT, clearance fees, sometimes more than the shipping cost. That does not happen with us.

Our parcels to Switzerland leave duty paid: the customs declaration is sent electronically at dispatch, and duties, Swiss VAT and clearance fees are paid by us, in advance. The courier hands you the parcel, and that’s it. The price you pay at checkout is the final price.

So who pays?

We do, and here is exactly how:

  • Shipping to Switzerland covers transport and customs formalities. That is why it costs more than to France or Belgium: it hides nothing, it includes what others would charge you at the door.
  • Above the free-shipping threshold, we cover everything: transport, customs, Swiss VAT and clearance.

The shipping cost and the free-shipping threshold are shown on every product page and in the cart, worked out for Switzerland — that is where they are always up to date.

And the products themselves stay at the same price as in France, shown including tax. French VAT does not apply to an export: it is what pays for the Swiss VAT we settle on your behalf.

How it works

  • Home delivery by Colissimo, with tracking. Pickup points and tracked letters are not available to Switzerland: goods crossing a border must travel as a declared parcel.
  • Please give a phone number at checkout: the carrier requires one for a duty-paid shipment, and the parcel cannot leave without it.
  • Payment is in euros; your bank converts when the payment is taken.
  • An order that doesn’t suit you, or a damaged parcel? Write to us: a return from Switzerland crosses customs again, so we will guide you through it case by case.

Why now

Because everything is in place and tested. Before opening, we obtained our exporter number, had complete customs declarations for several kinds of parcels validated by Colissimo, and prepared the information customs asks for about our products. The same rule as for every country: we only sell what we know we can honour.
