The goal of SIDEBOARD II is to bring together Pauper enthusiasts from all communities to share a friendly and competitive moment. But what is Pauper?
Pauper is played with decks of at least 60 cards in duel mode.
In this Magic format, all cards must have been printed with a common rarity level in a Magic expansion or product. Common promotional cards are only legal if the card meets this prerequisite.
If a common version of a particular card has been released in a physical Magic: The Gathering product or on Magic Online, any version of that card is legal in this format. This format includes land cards printed with a common expansion symbol and rarity code L.
- A minimum of 60 cards in the main deck (there is no maximum deck size for the main deck)
- Up to 15 cards in your sideboard, if you use one
- No more than four copies of any one card in your main deck and sideboard combined (excluding basic lands)
Nevermint's Opinion:
The fact that only common cards are used reduces the budget needed to participate with one's own deck. Games last longer and are less dominated by overly powerful cards. It is therefore a very accessible and fun format.
With this format, it's even more pleasing to see prizes of this level in a tournament of a human scale.
